n today’s world what exactly is meant by “Business Intelligence?” Mirriam Webster defines it as
(1) : the ability to learn or understand or to deal with new or trying situations :
reason; also : the skilled use of reason
(2) : the ability to apply knowledge to manipulate one's environment or to think abstractly as measured by objective criteria (as tests).
Christian Science : the basic eternal quality of divine Mind: mental acuteness : shrewdness
Given that, an analyst having Business Intelligence can decode and decipher a situation to its lowest common denominator. It’s the ability of applying what is written between the lines or better yet, what is missing or not written to the forefront of thought.
According to one answer on Wikipedia, "Business intelligence (BI) refers to computer-based techniques used in spotting, digging-out, and analyzing business data, such as sales revenue by products and/or departments, or by associated costs and incomes."
BI technologies provide historical, current, and predictive views of business operations. Common functions of business intelligence technologies are reporting, online analytical processing, analytics, data mining, business performance management, benchmarking, text mining, and predictive analytics."
